The personal testimony of Doug Bowers. Released in 2000, the album takes the listener on a life-journey fusing a variety of musical styles. Answered prayer lead to an outpouring of songs during the ealy 1990s. Some related to experiences that had occured during Doug's life while others seemed to express "where his head was at" during particular periods. When Doug decided to put together an album, he found that these songs came together (quite by accident ?) to form an autobiographical testimony.

DARK SIDE

The morning starts the new parade and you wonder if the apparition’s real

Though you’re weary and afraid, you put on your mask and hide the way you feel

Comes the night a you’re alone with the feelings tha the day’s light kept within

The walls around you turn to stone and the conflict in your mind will soon begin

There’s a dark side deep within us all that wants to rise and shout

Our Father sent His only Son to croud the dark side out

So stand tall fight the demons in your head come in from the dark find the light of hope instead

You’ve got the power in your grasp stand tall and fight and hold onto it fast

As time goes by you realize you have a stabilizing force at work inside

It clears your heart it clears your mind it lifts your soul it turns the battle’s tide

Your faith can bring an inner peace to put your mind at ease

Your thoughts are pure your nightmares cease it cures your soul’s disease

So stand tall fight the demons in your head come in from the dark find the light of hope instead

You’ve got the power in your grasp stand tall and fight and hold onto it fast

Your power, you’re glory O Lord most high

STREET PREACHER

Well I’m tryin’, I’m tryin’ to remember what the young man said ‘bout my salvation

Y’see he was preachin’ to everyone within earshot, the people he’s addressin’, oh yeah, they show their aggravation

Street preacher! Why you yellin’ ‘bout your fire and brimstone? Tell of His love, His sweet love

Street preacher! Don’t be yellin’ ‘bout your fire and brimstone! Tell of his love, His sweet love

I know they mean well these megaphones of the righteous, but they turn off the weary and the lost

Who think all Christians are big mouth Bible thumpers and they think salvation comes at too high a cost

Street preacher! Why you yellin’ ‘bout your fire and brimstone? Tell of His love, His sweet love

Yeah, street preacher! Don’t be yellin’ ‘bout your fire and brimstone! Tell of his love, His sweet love

Love, love, need to tell the world today

Love, love, don’t turn the lost away

I was having dinner with some friends one summer night with a glass of wine in a small outdoor café

A young man approached us and said that he was right: “Instead of seeking heaven, y’all goin’ the other way!”

Then he told us that we were sons of the devil, we’re gonna burn forever when we die

I said, “what right, what right have you to judge us! Jesus said He saved us and our Savior doesn’t lie!”

Street preacher! Why you yellin’ ‘bout your fire and brimstone? Tell of His love, His love, His sweet love

Yeah, street preacher! Don’t be yellin’ ‘bout your fire and brimstone! Tell the world of his love, His love, His unconditional love!

DEATH…YOU LOSE!

Death, where is your sting?

Your taunts to a child of God, they don’t mean a thing

You’re waiting for my ultimate fate to usher me through the doors of your cold, dark gate

Spread my ashes ‘cross the water or bury my bones beneath the sod

Let the deeds of my past become gossip fodder

Deliver my soul into the hands of God

Oh grave, where are your bounds?

I’ll be freed in the glory of God when the trumpet sounds

Delivered with a body that’s new, called home to the eternal feast with the chosen few

Spread my ashes ‘cross the water or bury my bones beneath the sod

Let the deeds of my youth become gossip fodder

Deliver my soul into the hands of God

Oh death, huh! Defeated at last!

By the grace of a loving God who won’t remember my past

Cast out at the moment of truth and dashed upon the rock that lies beyond the burden of proof

Spread my ashes ‘cross the water or bury my bones beneath the sod

Let the deeds of my past become gossip fodder

Deliver my soul into the hands of God

Spread my ashes ‘cross the water or bury my bones beneath the sod

The mistakes of my youth become gossip fodder

Deliver my soul into the hands of God

Into the hands of a loving God
